Averil McClelland

Dr. McClelland is currently involved with a major curriculum project for the National First Ladies Library in Canton, Ohio, as well as helping to establish an initiative on democracy and education in the College, which includes an undergraduate organization called The Forum, and a Democracy and Education website.

Kim Sebaly

Because of his interest in the relation of the public to education in a democracy, Dr. Sebaly is involved in a number of projects:

  • Higher Education and the Public (Kettering Foundation)
  • Reflective Public Dialogue Project (KSU-BGSU Centennial Project)
  • Conservation Education and American Environmental Movements
  • Northeast Ohio Regional Economic Development and Education (Advance Northeast Ohio)

Vilma Seeberg

Dr. Seeberg's interest in multicultural education, as well as in the education of girls in China is demonstrated by the following projects:

  • Chinese and cross-cultural, comparative education of girls in the context of globalization; socio-anthropological approach. Chinese Girls Study group; we meet irregularly during the semester.
  • "African American Students' Academic Engagement and Success: Family Stories"; focus on Shaker Heights, Ohio; ethnography; in process of interviewing. Shaker Heights Research Team meets once a month in Shaker Heights.
  • Chinese Academy of Cleveland: meets Saturdays in Cleveland; participate in the curriculum.
