In addition to the regular application requirements of the University, applicants must provide the following:
- Submit the appropriate Ph.D. application directly to the Office of Student Services.
- Submit a minimum of three recommendations.
- Submit satisfactory scores on the general knowledge portion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
In some instances, students may be admitted to the master's level on a conditinal basis. A student who is admitted conditionally will be prescribed nine semester hours of specific coursework, which are to be taken as the first nine hours at Kent State University. An earned grade below "B" in any of the nine hours of prescribed classes or deviation from the prescription will result in dismissal. The conditional status will be removed and the student will be able to proceed in coursework upon satisfactory completion of the prescribed hours.
