Student Organizations
Club Managers Association of America (CMAA)
The student chapter of Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) is open to all students at Kent State University who are interested in Club Management.
The Cleveland Chapter of CMAA sponsors this student group in cooperation with a Kent State University faculty advisor. Meetings are held once per month and consist of a guest speaker from the club industry or a tour of a local club.
Elected officers include a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. In addition, student members of CMAA may attend the Cleveland Chapter meetings held at various clubs in the Cleveland area. These meetings include an educational speaker and a business meeting, followed by dinner. Students must RSVP for Cleveland Chapter meetings through the faculty advisor.
The student chapter provides a format for students interested in clubs to meet and interact. In addition, the student and Cleveland Chapter meetings provide networking opportunities for students seeking internships and other professional positions. Meeting announcements are posted on the HM e-mail listserv and on the bulletin boards in Nixson Hall.
If students are interested in becoming members of Kent State University’s Chapter of CMAA, please contact Dr. Barbara Scheule.
Ice Carving Club
The Kent State University Ice Carving Club was established in 2000. Student officers and a faculty advisor lead the club activities. The club membership fee covers the cost of the ice, carving equipment, and other expenses associated with carving ice. Membership is open to all students interested in developing their ice carving talents regardless of their current skill level.
If students are interested in joining the Ice Carving Club, please contact the club advisor, Mr. John Goehler.
