aimme M. Bourgoin
My name is Aimee M. Bourgoin and I was born in Chicago. Currently, I reside in Canton with my husband, Andre, and my children, Aspen (age 6) and Gabriel (age 4). I chose Kent State University because my husband also attends here and currently is seeking a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems. When I first attended college 10 years ago at Oklahoma State University my major was Architecture, but I left school to care for my mother who was fighting terminal colon cancer. In 2003 the Lord gave me a wonderful blessing, my son Gabe. Gabe was born 10 weeks premature and for the first two years of his life he had numerous hospitalizations and on-going therapies. I was amazed at the loving care and support given to my family by the doctors, nurses, councilors, and early interventionist. I knew then that I wanted to help other children with exceptionalities grow and mature. After working part time for two years at Akron's Children's Home Care Group, I decided to finish my education. I thought long and hard about what I enjoyed and what I wanted to do and came to the conclusion that I wanted to teach. In Spring 2007 I returned to school and declared a Intervention Specialist major with a concentration in Mild to Moderate Disability. In my spare time I enjoy anything that involves my children and I enjoy reading and playing online games.
Stephanie Cicero
My name is Stephanie Cicero and I am from Mentor. Currently, I am a junior at Kent State University and I am majoring in Middle Childhood Education with concentrations in Social Studies and Math. I chose Kent State because it was close to home and I knew it had a great education program. I have always wanted to be a teacher, so finding a school with a strong education program was important to me. I chose the middle grades because I feel that it is a very important age in a child's life where they need good role models and support. I love working with kids, and currently I am working at an after-school program at Davey Elementary in Kent. I also love being with my friends and family when I have free time. Some of my other hobbies include scrapbooking, shopping, and watching Cleveland sports. After I finish my under-graduate degree, I plan on getting my master's degree in counseling. I look forward to one day having my own classroom and finally achieving the dream I have looked forward to for so long.
Carrie Koenig
My name is Carrie Koenig and I am a junior speech pathology major from Willoughby. I chose to attend Kent State University because it is a large university and has a lot to offer. I decided to major in Speech Pathology because it is interesting, challenging and rewarding. I was attracted to the diversity of the field and the fact that it allows me to work one-on-one with clients. After I graduate, I plan to work in a hospital, helping patients with speech and swallowing problems from strokes, car accidents or other injuries. I am involved with NSSLHA, a speech pathology group for students, and Habitat for Humanity. In my spare time I enjoy dancing and playing tennis.
