How do I register for credit?
You may print the registration form from the following web site: www.ehhs.kent.edu/IB and fax to 330.672.7445 or you may call 330.672.0537 or 330.672.0538 to register.
Must I pre-register?
Yes, pre-registration at least one week in advance of your workshop ensures proper admission and registration for the appropriate graduate credit
How much is the tuition?
$220 for one semester hour of graduate credit. Tuition is payable by credit card.
Can I take the workshop for more than one semester hour or credit?
No, Kent State University adheres to the Ohio Board of Regents formula of 15 contact hours plus 22.5 outside of class hours per one hour of graduate credit. None of the IBO workshops are long enough to be assigned more than one semester hour of graduate credit.
Is there an additional assignment?
Yes, you will be required to complete a short paper as a follow-up to your IBO workshop and to submit it to Kent State University at lfrobert@kent.edu. The requirements for your assignment are on the International Baccalaureate link of pdo.educ.kent.edu.
Your paper will be graded by a staff member at Kent State and returned to you with a grade of satisfactory/ unsatisfactory.
Can I use this credit to advance on the pay scale or to renew my teaching credentials?
That really depends upon the requirements of your State Board of Education as well as your school district. This is graduate workshop credit which applies in most cases but not all. It is a good idea to check with your Human Relations department in advance of the conference on this issue.
Once the workshop is finished, how do I obtain my grade?
You may obtain your grades at the end of the term (Spring: mid May, Summer: mid August, Fall: mid December). You may obtain a transcript by calling 330.672.3131 or you can order transcripts online. Transcripts are free of charge.
